Alice Hewitt is a Margate based sculptor and miniaturist specialising in tiny food.
Alice Hewitt is a Margate based miniaturist and sculptor. After over a decade of working in theatre in London, Alice returned home to Margate, studied painting and ceramics, and began to create miniature sculptures that reframe the narrative of quotidian objects.
Her work focuses on memory and storytelling, invoking childlike wonderment over the tiny worlds she creates. The fundamental principle underlining all of her work is that everyone and everything tells a story, when everyday objects are seen through a miniaturist lens, the viewer of the work is invited to overlay their own narrative and preconceptions to the objects they are confronted with.
Alice studied painting at the OCA and ceramics at Clayspace studios in Margate. Her miniatures have been exhibited and sold worldwide.
